| Since birth, over 500 children and their families have participated in the Epidemiology of Home Allergens and Asthma Study, which investigates the health effects of environmental exposures that may reduce or increase the risk of asthma and allergy in later childhood. We are conducting another round of home visits when your child turns 11 years old. We will be testing your child's lung function and levels of exhaled nitric oxide. We will also be doing dust collection and allergy testing. Environmental exposures as diverse as pet (dog or cat) exposure, cockroach, mold, endotoxin, and stress have been found to influence immune responses and the risk of eczema, hayfever, wheeze, or asthma. |
